Preventing the spread of COVID-19 and mitigating its economic consequences
for the most vulnerable individuals and families
The project produces locally and distributes infection prevention masks (in the framework of the agreement "Support for the COVID-19 response in Niger” that the European Union has signed with the Government of Niger).
The project also contributes to the economic development of young people by opening up employment prospects, particularly for women and vulnerable groups, with an emphasis on training to help integrate young people into sustainable employment.
The project strengthens the resilience and development capacity of the population of Niamey to cope with the health crisis and its socio-economic consequences.
To contribute to the protection of the Niger population from COVID-19 infection by acting on prevention and control mechanisms, through increased access to protective equipment in schools.
To create immediate job opportunities for women and the most vulnerable groups through the production and distribution of reusable textile masks.
This action has two main components:
Local production of reusable textile masks through quick impact actions and labour-intensive work (THIMO).
Distribution and awareness-raising on the correct use of the masks to reduce the risk of spread and prevent Covid-19 infection.
