Biodiversity is a right of every living being, not merely a resource to be exploited. This belief drives CISP’s daily commitment to its protection and enhancement.

COP16, held in Colombia from October 21 to November 1, 2024, was a pivotal moment to reaffirm global commitments to combating climate change and safeguarding biodiversity. CISP, a leader in these efforts, actively participated in the event, sharing the experiences of its projects and amplifying the voices of local communities.

Participating at the stand of the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS), CISP presented a comprehensive overview of its projects across Latin America and the Caribbean. All of these initiatives share a unified vision: promoting sustainable, resilient development that places people at the heart of their efforts.
Driving Success Through Innovative Projects
CISP’s impactful initiatives span the continent:
From Argentina, where the Gran Chaco project supports indigenous communities vulnerable to climate change, to Colombia, with reforestation and sustainable water management initiatives, CISP is committed to creating a better future for people and the planet.
In Cuba, an AICS-funded project aims to improve the resilience and adaptive capacity of communities to climate change, while in Ecuador, the EU-funded DESAFÍOS project promotes ecosystem regeneration.
In Guatemala, CISP supports rural communities through sustainable rural development projects such as MANCOMUNIDADES and biodiversity conservation, as in the case of Acciones de Restauración, implemented in the Refugio de Vida Silvestre Punta de Manabique.
Finally, in Venezuela, the Andes en Acción Climática, Acción 3R and Acción Comunitaria por el Agua projects address crucial challenges such as waste management, water protection and adaptation to climate change.
A Vision for a Sustainable Future
COP16 provided CISP with a platform to highlight concrete solutions that demonstrate the harmony between economic development and environmental protection. The showcased projects reflect CISP’s unwavering commitment to building a fairer, more sustainable future—both in Latin America and across the globe.
As a dedicated partner in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) outlined in the 2030 Agenda, CISP recognizes that collaboration among institutions, NGOs, and local communities is essential to addressing today’s pressing global challenges.
A Message of Peace and Hope
Caring for nature profoundly impacts peace, as nature is synonymous with life. Without life, how can we hope for peace? Biodiversity is the foundation for this connection. With it, we create spaces of awareness, serenity, and mental well-being, at a time when mental health challenges are among the world’s greatest issues. Nature with is diversity offers us a path to the peace we all seek—first on an individual, spiritual level, and then extending to the wider community, as we aspire for in Colombia.”
